Crush Your Goals in 2019

If you are like me, you are a week into the new year and you have given up on your resolution. I decided long ago to do away with resolutions and to truly look inside, and put on paper some goals to achieve in the year to come. First, what's the difference between resolutions and goals? Resolutions are firm decisions to do or not do something and goals are defined as an object of a person's ambition or effort. The reason resolutions have a bad connotation and the reason why most people nowadays don't even bother, is because they are a definitive idea. I liken it to quitting cold turkey. Goals require intention, planning and time to become achievable.

Here are some tips I have found helpful when making and meeting my goals.

Goal Setting Tips:

1. Think of where you want to be in a year and then lay the groundwork of how to get there with your goals.

2. Be realistic and set obtainable goals.

3. Set measurable goals. Choose 3 components when creating the goal; 1. What 2. How 3. How Often.

Example: Instead of "Loose 20 pounds" try "Loose 20 pounds by working out 5 times a week for 30+ minutes."

You want to be able to see where and how often you're working towards your goal. When you check back in every quarter you can adjust accordingly if the measures you put in place are not getting you where you want to be.

Goal Crushing Tips:

1. PUT PEN TO PAPER! This is a huge tip. If you don't write it down and leave it in regular eye sight, it won't happen.

2. Use a day planner to keep mindful of what steps need to be taken to achieve your goals. I know a lot of people don't use a day planner, so use the calendar on your phone.

3. I am trying something new this year and breaking up a my months into its own individual goal that will help me create habits to reach my overall goals. Creating good habits, or breaking bad ones, are key to the road map of success. Here are my monthly goals for 2019 to help inspire you to create your own.

January- Drink a Gallon of water everyday

February- No Gluten

March- Glutes Exercise everyday

April- Practicing handstands everyday

May- No Sugar

June- No Personal Shopping

July- No Corn

August- Cardio everyday for 20-45 minutes

September- Gratitude Journaling

October- Reading everyday

November- Random Acts of Kindness

December- 5 Minute Meditation everyday

4. Check back every quarter to asses your progress and adjust your measurable actions accordingly. This will help keep your goals in the forefront of your mind.

I hope these tips inspire you to sit down and plan for your future.

Live well, drink good beer and travel often,

XO Taylor
